According to the alert from the Wappinger Central School District, the incident took place around 7:57 a.m. Friday when the two female Sheafe Road Elementary School students walking to the bus stop noticed a dark gray Subaru Outback parked in a local business, on Route 9 near Wenliss Terrace.

As they walked past the vehicle, the occupant asked "if they needed a ride to school?" As soon as the students arrived at school safely, they reported the incident to Sheafe Road Principal James Daley, the statement said.

The incident was immediately reported to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department. The vehicle and the individual are described as being a dark gray Subaru Outback with a man in his 40s, with a beard.

The school also said the incident was "an important reminder of speaking to children about potentially dangerous situations."
